Project Toto has made it to the City Plan Commission.
On the docket Tuesday was a request to amend a previously approved development plan to allow CVS Pharmacy Inc. to develop a 752,259-square-foot warehousing distribution facility on 72 acres at the southeast corner of Northwest 108th Street and North Congress Avenue in Skyport Industrial Park.
The new plan further identifies a potential expansion of the building for a total build-out of 1,007,156 square feet.
The Kansas City Business Journal reported last month that Project Toto, the code name for a large project that area economic development agencies have been hoping to land, was CVS and that it had selected a distribution center site in Skyport, which is near Kansas City International Airport.
According to the Tuesday plan commission docket, CVS was to be represented by Dixi Talke, a logistics program manager for CVS.
The owner of the site, NorthPoint Development, was to be represented by Brent Miles, vice president of NorthPoint Development.
In late 2014, NorthPoint bought the last remaining development ground in Skyport — the site where CVS will locate.
According to a city planning staff report, access will be provided via two drives extending off North Congress Avenue. Parking will be provided for 186 tractor-trailers, and employees and visitors will have 473 parking spaces.
The facility is expected to employ roughly 400, who may work in three shifts, the report stated.
